On September 29, the ever-inspiring artist and activist John Trudell joined BFC for a very special event in San Francisco, which was a huge honor for us. Thank you, John, for everything you do. HELP GET THE WORD OUT! There are just a few more days of Road Show events left for this year, and if you live in or near the towns we'll be visiting, you can help spread the word by downloading posters to place around your community and by using Facebook to inform and invite your friends to Road Show events nearby. Simply browse our Road Show Schedule and use that information to create events. If you need more details or can help promote any of the events, please email Mike Mease.

It has been said that it is the buffalo who choose those that come to their defense; those who have been moved to speak and act on their behalf have heard the buffalo's call; they will need all of us this winter. Thank you for being with us.

* Take Action! Endless Pressure, Endlessly Applied

There are many ways you can use your voice to advocate for America's last continuously wild buffalo! One important way is to let decision-makers hear from you, which you can do easily from BFC's Take Action page. Even if you have already taken these actions, the letters are editable, so you can refresh your message in defense of North America's largest land mammal!

* Wild is the Way! New Bison Goods Help Recognize BFC's 15 Years in the Field

In celebration of Buffalo Field Campaign's 15th anniversary, we have launched a new line of merchandise. Please visit our Bison Goods page to view and purchase this beautiful new merchandise. We are very excited to offer you the opportunity to support our work through these BFC-branded products you can use in your everyday lives. New merchandise includes: tee shirts, Klean Kanteen water bottles and pint cups, bumper stickers, and notecards.

* By the Numbers

AMERICAN BUFFALO ELIMINATED from the last wild population in the U.S. The last wild population is currently estimated at fewer than 4,300 individual buffalo. Wild bison are currently ecologically extinct throughout their native range in North America.

Buffalo Wild

been living with a fugitive inside of us
like buffalo wild under a buffalo sun
running in a closing in maddened world
racing against the predators of spirit

in facing off with progresses addictions
civilized destruction's wanting habits
polite or violent whatever it takes
with guns and laws and truth that lies

domesticating the natural for harvesting
threatened by what nature made free
with civilized rational aggressions
wreaking blood havoc

and no feeling of tomorrow or the ancient
in the plundering of all our relations
the business of collateral damage
profiteering maximized in the carnage

sacred living reduced to looking to escape
buffalo wild needing a buffalo roam
between earth and stars breathing free
following the future through the past

ancestor prayers praying to the buffalo soul
been living with a fugitive inside of us
feeling the human part of buffalo dreams
in the reality of all life is sacred
buffalo medicine is one of the gifts

~ by John Trudell, internationally acclaimed poet, artist, actor, activist and all around amazing man.
