In the Photo of the Duck Creek capture facility, the background is Koelzers house, the foreground trees are the border of Yellowstone National Park. The Montanta Department of Livestock often bait the trap with hay in order to lead them into the capture facility. They have even installed a gate on Koelzers property that faces the park so the buffalo can be lured into the trap more easily. A buffalo was shot near the trees in the Fall 2005 bison hunt. 7. Why was Koelzer feeding elk? During the trial, Koelzer said he didn't tell FWP officials he had shot the animal because in past years FWP had objected to his feeding elk, which created bad blood between him and some FWP officials.
