Interagency Bison Management Plan is out of control
Letter to the Editor, Bozeman Daily Chronicle
2/25/05
The Interagency Bison Management Plan has gotten out of control! The capture facility inside the park was proudly described as, "ready to go"! They are going to start quarantining calves and yearlings, which may not work, and if not, they'll just have to kill and culture them all. Shameful! Cowering to the interest of the Livestock industry!

National Park Service has a capture facility for use of capturing and quarantining Yellowstone bison. They are vaccinating with an ineffective vaccine and allowing USDA tags in our wild free-roaming native bison! Cowardice! The Forest Service is putting a capture facility on national forest land to capture and kill native bison for cattle, an invasive species, "protection"! Cowardice! Fish Wildlife and Parks is harassing wild bison on public land for cattle, an invasive species, "protection." Cowardice!

The Department of Livestock does not have the courage to tell the truth. This is not about brucellosis! If it was they would be pushing harder for the eradication of all wildlife. The elk and moose have it, and predators can transport it. How about instead of millions of taxpayer dollars going to eliminate the native species, vaccinate and find a foolproof vaccine for cows? Because it's not about brucellosis. Stop cowering down, stand up straight and speak up for buffalo!
