| Speak
for the wild bison with your dollar

With
April 15 upon us, folks need to know that their hard-earned
state and federal tax dollars support wildlife harassment
and slaughter. For many of Yellowstone's wild bison, the
Last Best Place is simply the last place, and we taxpayers
help fund their extermination.
At the end of March, Montana's Department of Livestock
used hay to attract 14 bison into a capture facility outside
the park near West Yellowstone, where agents wielding
cattle prods taunted the terrified wildlife. Eight who
tested positive for brucellosis exposure were slaughtered
(including males, which don't transmit brucellosis). Three
yearling bulls were sent to quarantine where, as wild
bison, they're as good as dead; they'll be vaccinated,
fed, bred - in other words, domesticated. Three were released
onto Horse Butte public land then hazed by DOL "cowboys"
on snowmobiles.
Although no wild bison has ever transmitted brucellosis
to cattle (ironically, cattle infected bison in the first
place), this mighty American icon doesn't stand a chance
against DOL, a powerful political entity driven by greed
and entitlement.
On Jan. 12, the National Park Service killed a lone female
inside Yellowstone near Gardiner. According to the NPS,
she had become "more resistant to hazing, moving
out of the park at night."
These atrocities are documented every day by Buffalo Field
Campaign volunteers. Visit their Web site (www.buffalofieldcampaign.org)
for details and distressing video footage showing how
our tax dollars are spent by state and federal agencies
determined to keep these magnificent migratory creatures
confined to Yellowstone and off adjacent public land they
have every right to occupy.
Express your outrage to Gov. Brian Schweitzer. Boycott
Montana beef. Tell friends and relatives to boycott vacationing
here until the slaughter stops. Because "money talks,"
let's speak for Yellowstone's wild bison with our economic
power.
