What:
The
groups have filed a Petition for Writ of Mandamus in
Montana's First Judicial District Court asking Judge
Honzel to compel the Montana Dept. of Livestock to abide
by the state's Constitutional Right to Know. Brenda
Hall (Reynolds, Motl & Sherwood 406-442-3261) will argue
the case for the citizen groups.
Why:
Since
early 2001, the Montana Dept. of Livestock has not answered
the groups repeated requests to inspect and copy public
records on the agency's Yellowstone bison management
activities.

government and its subdivisions, except in cases in
which the demand of individual privacy clearly exceeds
the merits of public disclosure."
