Dear
Buffalo Friends,
APPLY NOW: https://app.discoveringmontana.com/elicensesales/
On December 16, 2004, Montana Fish, Wildlife, and Parks
(FWP) approved a buffalo "hunt" that would
permit gun-bearers to kill ten buffalo in the Eagle
Creek Special Management Area. This is national
forest land that lies directly adjacent to the northern
boundary of Yellowstone National Park, and until last
Thursday, it was the only place in Montana where buffalo
were allowed to be. Now, as they enter this former
place of peace, they will be subject to gunfire from
January 15 through February 15, 2005.
WE ARE STRONGLY URGING YOU TO APPLY FOR A BUFFALO
HUNT PERMIT! https://app.discoveringmontana.com/elicensesales/
Applications must be received by 7:00 p.m. EST, Monday,
January 3, 2005.
This is a lottery hunt permit. It costs just $3.00 (non-refundable)
to put your name in. There will be ten permits issued,
with only one being an out-of-state permit. If your
name is drawn, Montana residents pay $75, and nonresidents
$750. If it isn't, there's no further obligation. It's
an insultingly cheap price for taking an insultingly
cheap shot at a most sacred animal. Applicants must
have a valid 2004 Montana Conservation license, which
can be easily obtained at any hunting license outlet
for $6.25. The drawing is scheduled for January 7, and
if you're a winner, FWP will notify you by phone. For
all the details on the buffalo shoot visit http://fwp.state.mt.us/news/article_3245.aspx.
TAKE AN ON LINE POLL: Montana's Helena
Independent Record is taking an on line poll on FWP's
decision to allow this canned buffalo hunt. Help show
Montana that there's another "black eye" coming
to the state if they let this buffalo shoot happen.
Their question is: "Do you agree with the FWP Commission's
decision to permit bison hunting?" Vote "NO"
by scrolling down the page at http://www.helenair.com/
and please pass the link on to your friends!
