Bison's distinctive wallowing on the earth creates water pools that amphibians
use for habitat. Bison wallows
create drought tolerant and fire resistant grasslands. Birds use bison hair for
their nests. Winter-killed bison is a
key food source for bears emerging from hibernation. Wild bison's keystone ecological
role is impaired by removing
this indigenous species from the land scape. Buffalo Field Campaign's suit seeks
to restore wild bison in their native habitat.
