BFC stands in solidarity and support for efforts to stop the Dakota Access Pipeline that threatens the land, water, wildlife, public health and tribal rights of the Standing Rock Sioux Nation.

The Dakota Access pipeline, which would stretch 1,168 miles across North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa and Illinois, would pass within just half a mile of the Standing Rock Sioux reservation, putting sacred sites and important habitat at risk and posing a devastating public health threat to the Tribe's drinking water.

Crossing the Great Plains, the very heart of the bison's prime historic habitat, the pipeline poses a serious risk to future bison restoration efforts. As we have seen time and time again, oil spills destroy clean water and wildlife.

Keeping fossil fuels in the ground would help protect water quality, mitigate the effects of climate change, and protect the lives of future generations, human and Other. Buffalo Field Campaign is united in supporting the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe's efforts to protect their homeland.
