Job Description:

Intern to protect the Buffalo Herds of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and Yellowstone National Park in Yellowstone National Park this summer!

Buffalo Field Campaign (BFC) is seeking the skills, interest, and passion of Undergraduate and Graduate Interns for Summer Internships!

BFC Summer Interns participate in Outreach Tabling in Yellowstone National Park and the local Community.

As part of a Tabling Team, engage and educate on the Scientific, Multi-Disciplinary, Government, and JEDI (Justice, Equity, and Diversity and Inclusion) reasons to protect Buffalo at a Sustainable Population Number and keep them from going Extinct!

During the Summer Outreach Season, Summer Interns participate in a rotating Tabling Crew that includes camping for up to a week in Yellowstone National Park (near Tabling Locations) and Outreach Activities that occur from BFC Headquarters and the Lodge in West Yellowstone, MT.

BFC Interns also have the opportunity to assist with our Tribal Youth Outreach Program.

  • Environmental Science, Natural Resources, and Sustainability
  • Social Media
  • Journalism including Photo-journalism and Documentary Film
  • Office-based Outreach (can be 100% Office-based)
  • Office-based Database (can be 100% Office-based)
  • Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion

All Interns receive a Mentor in their area of Specialization.

Your Internship will focus on a rotating schedule that includes Tabling shifts and Specialized Internship Projects in the Field, Office, or Media Project Space!

Internship Availability: 6/15/23-9/5/23

We ask for a two-week commitment, although, encourage applicants that can dedicate two months to a Summer to protecting the Buffalo Herds of the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem! Schedules can be made around remote Class Learning and Study Sessions.

Interns will be provided free bunk-style/Co-op housing in our Lodge, Meals, Internet, Laundry, and any necessary gear.

Free time for Hiking, Climbing, Canoeing/Kayaking/Rafting and Wildlife Photography!

Internships are available for College Credit through a University, College, Trade School, or Community College course. Interns with their own Funding through a University Grant or External Funding are also welcome to apply.

1st year College Graduates may apply - We may have to accept you as a Volunteer, although, can accept you into a Specialized Program with References available upon completion of the Program. You also have the option to continue into our Field Season Program.
