My name is Troy Gleckler, I am interning with Buffalo Field Campaign with a focus on photojournalism and producing photos for social media. I am from Knoxville, Tennessee, where I fell in love with the art of photography, pursuing it wherever I could. A good photo can tell a story and show people the changes that need to be made for the betterment of society. I brought my newfound knowledge to the Buffalo Field Campaign only to find no buffalo to photograph yet. Still, I venture out on patrol every day to look for the buffalo in hopes of developing a beautiful story.

Morning greens for a brisk day: I think it is amazing what opportunities present themselves when you go out of the comfort of a warm home you are familiar with to see something only few get to. Even though I was 2,000 miles from home this mother and calf were home, enjoying a beautiful morning in the snowy Montana landscape.

My journey has shown me some of the most beautiful sights around West Yellowstone: from the top of Horse Butte, where the buffalo migrate for the calving season; Sandy Butte, where you can view miles of forest blanketed with a foggy sunrise of colors only nature can create; around Hebgen Lake, where the footprints of rabbits and coyotes tell of an amazing chase; from the front porch of our campaign lodge where billions of stars are free to shine with all their might in the night sky. In talking with our staff and volunteers I have learned so much about the intelligence and persistence of buffalo. In my time here I hope to help the buffalo stay free from captivity and death with this courageous group of people that our supporters have generously helped for many years.

Stars for Thought: I like the way the stars are referred to as a blanket. A blanket of stars so beautiful they cradle everything under it like you could grab it and pull it close while you fall asleep each night. The stars never go away though, they are only dimmed in the light of something brighter.

The WAY the Stars Form: The Milky Way - I never thought that the darkest parts of the day could be so bright. I like this shot because I have spent so many nights in the city looking up and only seeing a handful of stars, and now not only can I see so many but also the remarkable formations they are capable of creating.
