The time has come to assemble a team for one of the most important (and fun) volunteer events of the year for BFC. Woodcut Weekend is an annual BFC tradition, and it is the final push to gather firewood for the long Yellowstone winters spent standing with the buffalo. Woodcut Weekend is September 10-12. Food, lodging, and good company is provided to all who attend. Bring a chainsaw (not required for attendance), gloves and a strong back. If you plan to come or have any questions, RSVP with Mike via email at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

~Last Words~

Buffalo Field Campaign is honoring the memory of James A. Horsley, our fellow petitioner, who passed away April 28, 2021. He was the first person to submit a petition to list and protect Yellowstone’s wild buffalo under the Endangered Species Act.

His initial hand written petition was submitted in January 1999 to Secretary of the Interior Bruce Babbitt while recovering from double hip surgery in a rehabilitation care facility. We have posted all three of James’s petitions on our Endangered Bison Endangered Migration web page.
